Myth #1: Exercising my lower abs will get rid of my potbelly. There is no way to isolate the bottom half of your abdominal muscles. If your lower belly is where your body stores fat, no amount of crunches will get rid of that pouch. Try spending a little more time doing cardio. Remember, spot reducing does not work.
Myth #2: If you exercise, you can eat whatever you want. Think again! A healthy diet goes hand in hand with a good exercise regimen. Don’t eat your exercise away!
Myth #3: Exercise requires you to spend hours in the gym. Who has all that extra time to spend working out? Most people do not know that as little as 30 minutes a day can benefit everyone in several different ways. Exercise can be broken up in to small segments of time and still be beneficial.
Myth #4: Lifting a large amount of weight will make your muscles bigger, faster. This is how people often hurt themselves. If you are lifting more weight than you can handle, chances are, your form is incorrect. Improper form is the most common cause of injuries.
Myth #5: Going to the gym everyday doing the same routine will surely help you lose weight. Our bodies get used to doing the same thing everyday. You need to vary your routine for the body to respond. The good thing about change is your body won’t get bored and neither will you.
